I got this idea from another thread. Thought it would be fun!

My first concert was Pat Travers (Boom, Boom Out Go The Lights) in 1978-79. I can't recall who else played, as I was only 4-5 at the time. I think the venue was the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Who's Next? LoEv & Took the Bears 2 Hours, do you mind telling yours again?

I think my first was a Chris Ledoux concert waaaaaay back in the 80's at a county fair, but I did see No Doubt before anyone knew who they were, when they were opening w/ the Goo Goo Dolls for Pearl Jam. :) (All the people with me, including me, said they were gonna be a hit when we heard them.) Still enjoy them!

Sure "Jonly" - my first concert was Black Sabbath at the Virginia Beach Dome - I just checked my ticket stub and it was 1971, not 1970. (Memory the second thing to go) I recall seeing them again only a short time later. I also have the little booklet they gave out at the door with pics of the band and advertisements - Ha! Tickets were something like $4.50. Around 1973 I started smuggling in my 35mm camera when I went to concerts - I still have some cool slides of bands from 1975-1990. The two times I was almost thrown out/camera nearly confiscated were: The Pretenders (drummer pointed at me and wagged his finger: "no pictures") and Talking Heads (an usher escorted me out of my seat but I managed to persuade her I was working for the student newspaper (U of Ky.)

Very first: The Rascals, Shea Stadium NY.

Forgot one: Concert 10 Pocono Raceway, 9th grade around 1971 or 1972. A mini-Woodstock type thing and organized even worse. Tickets were only $10 or $20 but they had no way of checking if you had one, went with my buddy and his parents. Had to park 10 miles away and hike in.
Acts included Rod Stewart, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Edgar Winter. Was supposed to be 10 hours. We saw the first 4 no-namers and they decided to leave. Sound towers were sinking into the mud, kept getting trampled by paramedics hauling OD's away.

Next was Frank Zappa, Halloween 1974, Felt Forum, NYC. Was working with a guy that was a drummer in a small band and went to a lot following that.

Saw George Harrison that year, so I got to see a Beatle. Billy Preston rocked the house, then the Indians took the stage. Ravi Shankar was sick so we got his cousin instead. Pretty tedious stuff.

First concert was I Mother Earth and Moist, in 1997, I believe. It was at a Toronto club then called the Warehouse. A band called Salmonblaster opened.

I went hardcore for my first one: Metallica in 93 or 92. Awesome concert. It was also the first time I ever smelled pot. Some other foolish kid I was with thought they were clove cigarettes. Ah, the simple ignorance of youth...

My first concert was Power Station (Robert Palmer, John & Andy Taylor from Duran Duran and Tony Thompson) in 1985. I was 14 and my Dad took me, so my style was a little cramp, then again at 14 I didn't have much style so it was just a little cramp.

I can do you one better w/ No Doubt. I used to go see them in Anaheim before they even released their first album! Gwen was such a power-house on that stage w/ all those rough-neck boys! :D

HAHA! How did you sneak in there w/o me noticing?!

Good to see you again Andrei! It has been a few weeks. Now, let me ask you... What does your siggy mean? I have no clue, but when ever I read it, I start singing "Ghee Bar, Ghee Bar, ooooo-ooooooh Take me to the Ghee Bar!!" I don't even know if it's a song, but it's kinda catchy when I hum it! :)

Stabbing Westward.... I'm wanting to say 1998?? Maybe 97? I don't know. But a darn good outside show in a big park here in Tulsa... It rained for three days before the show, so everyone was covered in mud. Too much fun! :D

Oh god... mine was in 1984 when I was 2. I watched the most popular singer in former Yugoslavia, Lepa Brena. Since then I was on... hundreds. The most popular singer I saw was Michael Jackson 10 years ago in Germany. The biggest concert I was on was two years ago, when a ex-Yugoslavian rock band reunited and made a tour. Almost 300 thousand people were there.

My first music concert is actually a Tori Amos concert... my mother loves Tori Amos and she had tickets to go to a concert and either people were busy that night or people did not want to go. My sisters did not want to go with her, and neither did my cousins and therefore I kinda took one for the team. The concert was actually good! She's a great performer...unfortunately her music does not fit my tastes. lol

I believe my first concert was probably a 'country-music' festival... because my mother likes country music and took us all with her.

But the first concert I ever chose to go to? I believe that was Warped Tour back in 2003? Not entirely sure of the year, but I was insanely excited and got to see some of my favorite bands of the time: The Ataris, Taking Back Sunday, and most of all, Brand New (Brand New being the only one of them who's really stood the test of time for me). It was a pretty great day, besides the fact that a crowd-surfer kicked me in the head and I passed out. I hate crowd surfers

As for New Kids on the Block... did anyone have their action figures?! I had one when I was little, and imagine my surprise when last year I found out my boyfriend had actually had one too... I guess New Kids cross gender boundaries.

When I was a kid I went to a lot of Country shows with my Mom & Dad. I saw Jerry Lee Lewis at the Whiting Auditorium in Flint, Michigan around 1967....and he ROCKED guys...seriously. I saw Merle Haggard twice....still a big fan. I saw Johnny Cash, and George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette.....all these folks that they've made Movies about .:)

But, little nooz wanted to Rock too. The first big concert for me was a Triple Bill, Eddie Money, Pat Benetar, and Journey, at Atwood Stadium in Flint, Michigan in 1980.....that was a great show.

My last concert was Vince Gill....the Planet's Greatest Living Guitar Player.....at a local Ampitheatre in 2004'. That was the last show that I got to see with my Mom.....:(

Here's some music trivia for you guys......In the late 60's an uncle of mine played Lead Guitar for a Michigan Bar band called Terry Knight & the Pack. He had a falling out with Terry and walked away. Terry begged him to reconsider....he said "no thanks". 2 years later The Pack changed it's name..................to GRAND FUNK RAILROAD.........can you say DOHH !!!!:mad::mad:

Well....In fairness to my Uncle. I think that he was 18 or 19 when he played Bar gigs with The Pack. He played with them briefly, a few weeks or few months at the most. And, Terry had a reputation for being hard to work for. At that time there was just no indication that they would become a "Super Group" 3 or 4 years later.
If we could see into the future we would all be millionaires.....or we would be like poor Desmond. :)

my first stadium concert was Metallica in 1999. they played a lot of newer stuff, which sucked. no ...and Justice for All at all, but a legthy and boring Nothing Else Matters. well, at least they played Seek and Destroy
I don't I ever went to a stadium gig again, didn't like it

my first club concert ... hmmmm ... dunno ... I think (extensive excursus ahead) the most famous band I've seen in my early years of club gigs was The Locust, even though I didn't know who they are back then. I just realized about 5 years later, when they were opening for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, that these were they guys I had seen and been impressed by big time back in 1999 in that shabby small town club in East Germany. wow, they had become f*cking legends in those 5 years ... I didn't get their name the first time, but there they were ... I totally fell in love with them (again) this time I knew their name and bought their albums

but I remember every first concert with a new girlfriend, does that count

My first concert was either Peter, Paul, and Mary (you know, they play songs like Puff the Magic Dragon:D) or Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson (I can't remember what they played). I don't remember which one came first.

Nice! I wish my first concert was somebody decent; I saw the Backstreet Boys in 1999 :o

....and then again the next year.

My first club concert was none other than the number one dj in the world armin van buuren :D

The Gap Band and Kool and the Gang in the 80's. I was like young and begged my parents. Don't laugh! :D

That's nothing.. I saw New Kids on the Block Dec 19, 1989 at the Oakland Coliseum when I was 10.

*is kinda embarrassed that I know the exact date*

my first stadium concert was Metallica in 1999. they played a lot of newer stuff, which sucked. no ...and Justice for All at all, but a legthy and boring Nothing Else Matters. well, at least they played Seek and Destroy

-
- Explosions in the Sky
- Sigur Rs
- The Distillers
- Mouse on Mars

I love Explosions in the Sky!

My first concert was Boys Like Girls (see avatar) and they played
-Thunder
-Hero/Heroine AND It WAS ACOUSTIC *melts*
-The Great Escape
-Dance Hall Drug
-On Top of the World (my personal favorite)
-Holiday
-Up Against The Wall

The first concert I saw was Bob Dylan at Wembley Arena in November '03 when I was 15. As he usually does he played a pretty wide selection of his back catalogue so I was pretty happy, even though I'd only got into his music for the first time at the start of that year, so some was new to me too. But yeah it was a great first gig.

Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode at The Avalon in Boston.

Or... no, technically Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but it was kind of a small venue so I don't really count it as a 'concert.'

I don't think I've ever been to a 'real' concert. I know. I'm extremely uncool. :| :o

If I'm lucky I'll get my way into the Warped Tour in SF or maybe Hoobastank (I think that's in San Jose every once in a bit).

I remember a couple of years ago, Mgo de Oz was going to have a concert here in Cancun and I was SOO excited for the new album (Gaia II) was new. Then I realized it was during a friend's birthday, so I just thought "screw him" and planned to go to the concert :o Then later I found out that they cancelled it and changed it to Mexicali  I mean, are there even people in Mexicali? :|

Other than that I've been to some lame boring concerts they organize close to where I live, no one famous, though :o

I've never been to one. I was going to go to Aerosmith, but ticket pices got to like 500 dollars a month before show. Dad wasn't having that. :(

BUT the show got cancelled because Steven Tyler fell on his head and was sick...

Hahahaha, the early 00's were a pretty funny time for music. Methods of Mayhem, SoD, Crazy Town were dreadful bands. Would have been fun though!

Haha yes, Methods of Mayhem was awful, Tommy Lee kept letting his pants fall down onstage. I dont remember the other two bands.
