Octagon Global Recruiting, on behalf of the Dharma Initiative, would like to thank you for registering your expression of interest in our latest volunteer recruitment drive.

We will be launching in San Diego on July 24th at Comic-Con International offering select registrants the opportunity to take an exciting aptitude test that will give applicants the chance to demonstrate their unique talents.

The Dharma Initiative hopes you will be able to join us to find out more about their ground-breaking new research project. We will contact you closer to the date with more information.

For those not able to join us in San Diego, Dharma's full recruitment program will be made available online to registered recruits after July 27th.

In the meantime, the Dharma Initiative urges you to spread the word. Invite your colleagues to join the team at www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com and take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Doing my homework:

In the email source, there are the lines:
<link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="http://72.47.249.66/site/images/html/favicon.gif" />
<meta name="Alert" content="March has 32 days" />

The IP address takes you : http://72.47.249.66/ ad the directories cannot be read, a least not by us.

The March has 32 days comment is a ref. to the comic book in the dhali lama test locke got:

http://www.mysterytales40.com/march-has-32-days-last-story-from-the-mystery-tales-40-comic-book-96555

This ARG needs to start already. =p

in the source of the page linked on the email
( http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com/site/emails/0618.html )

it keeps using the url : octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au

on the same page,
down on the bottom there are four images but resized to 1x1 px so they look like dots
if u check the source
it says

<!-- loading safety images -->
and then puta the four images:
http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au/site/emails/images/OE_TOP_v1.jpg
http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au/site/emails/images/OE_LEFT_v1.jpg
http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au/site/emails/images/OE_RIGHT_v1.jpg
http://www.octagonglobalrecruiting.com.au/site/emails/images/OE_BOTTOM_v1.jpg
all in width="1" height="1"
then it says
<!-- end loading safety images -->

I wondered if Hans Van Eeghen was an anagram of something?

The safety images at the bottom just reload the images already in the source code in case they didn't load the first time. The are re sized to 1x1 so they don't show up at the bottom.

Hans van Eeghen...really sounds DUTCH.

Just like Karen & Gerald de Groot

I'm from the Netherlands and these are typical DUTCH names..i wonder if there's a purpose for that..

I tried to figure out if Hans Van Eeghen was an anagram of anything, and while I didn't have any full results I came up with some interesting words including:

Van(s), vegan, Ghana, ash, Eve, Anne/Anna/Ann

I really don't know if this is an anagram, though, because a Google search brought up the fact that there exists a "Henk Van Eeghen" who actually edited some LOST episodes in seasons 3 and 4.

So the bottom line is that I have no idea :p

I don't think it's an anagram.

Hi, I'm new!
So anyway, thought I'd offer this little tid-bit: The date of the Octagon Global Recruiting reply email was June 19th.

Many of you know about the Stephen King connection to Lost, and that J.J. Abrams is working on a Dark Tower adaptation. The date Stephen King got ran over was June 19th 1999. For those that have read the Dark Tower series you know that 19 is a special number.

I wonder if the powers that be decided to send out the reply on the 19th for a reason, or was this just a coincidence?

...which I'd pointed out already here (http://forum.lostpedia.com/showpost.php?p=830438&postcount=118). ;)

Hi, New poster.

I googled Van Eeghen and got this site (It's already listed here on lostpedia)

http://www.henokiens.com/index_eeghen_gb.php

with info on the family of shippers in the 1600's. Curious that the founder was a Christian and his son a Jacob.
then I went to the business site and reading the page on their history

http://www.vaneeghen.com/home.html

-I know this is NOT true because the company sounds really real - but the wording is curious. A lot of time refernces and a bit at the end on - more to come soon. Don't they already know the history?

I missed the previous online games and am new to this. Would clues be hidden in a bone fide business site? Also, the widmore.com site that I understand was from the first game has a June 2008 notice about restructuring. Was this an old site ? I liked the Minnesota Metallurgy section but I have read that it was an old site too.

Any thoughts on this? Sorry if it is old news to you.

I was going to suggest checking your spam folder, but I see you've done that already.
I wouldn't be too worried about missing the chance to participate in the ARG. From what I've heard you will be directed to take a placement test by Dharma to determine your job. I'm sure you will be able to register again once we learn the URL to the test and all that.
I think you might find more information in the "Spoilers" section of the forum. I'm not sure because I haven't actually been in there myself.

I can't wait for it to start, this sounds like it's going to be awesome and also this will be my first ARG.

Yes, I received my email. I think everybody received it on June 19th, at least that's the first day I noticed people posting that they had received it.
