DNS is ABC, this is an official ARG domain.

Paul Scheer announced this domain at Lost panel at comicon when presenting Damon and Carlton with his velvet painting of them and a polar bear.

Claims to be taking 6 months off from work to dedicate himself to more Lost inspired velvet paintings.

Auction of the paintings is supposed to begin at midnight PST on 8/15

roniemidfewarts has sent cease and desist to DCPB to try and stop the auction.

Paul Scheer posted some new stuff today. He is going to meet the folks at Ronie Midfew Arts today. It is my supposition that he will be kidnapped, and his friend the camera man will have to take over showing us the paintings. There is too much running through my mind right now. I’ve been travelling ever since the meeting this afternoon and a lot of things need to get done – but let’s just say things took a turn for the….AWESOME!!!

And for those that do not believe that Lost U is part of the ARG, well, it had at least 6 pages update last night too.... So I will start a tracking and research thread for it too.

They are real, the show is real, the poster is real. The poster most likely was voluntarily handed over to DIMG to be loaded for the ARG. Hints are given by them I am sure, but their part in the ARG will be short.

This ARG will probably be an armchair ARG. Actually showing up at the show will probably not provide any edge, but the pictures from it might.

Might bet is that they are trying to take ARG to a new level, completely blending the real with hidden ARG elements. Staged, but with using real life things and real people. Paul Scheer for instance.

Could be. It would make sense to start with Sawyer. They'd pick up right "when" (that being a relative term on Lost) they left, with Sawyer devastated by Juliet's loss so I can see them focus on him.

So after we find the 15 we will have access to the 16th. I mean sure it would be a little disappointing if thats all it meant. But it makes the most sense to me.

I'm on an ancient works PC right now and half the internet doesn't work on it, so it could be that? Just seems a little fishy to me, particularly the "forgotten your password" thing which asks for your name, even though the "register" section does NOT ask for your name.

Anyone found out what all the little speech bubbles in the painting say?

As for the missing letters, I haven't got a clue, but it would seem to tie in with the possible title for 6.01 :confused:

I dont think they are going to move that fast, I recon each week hints will be given towards a real life place or event. That will lead to the "discovery" of the next painting. (one new painting per week until the new season maybe?)

I don't think the paintings are the whole enchilada. The letter spacing, LostU, mysteries of the unvierse, and other elements still may add up to something more.

This could move fast, in spurts, or weekly - I dunno. I do know that this is the last season, and darlton knows it too. I think they will try and keep momentum and discussion happening until the new episodes start.

I do see what you mean about the spaced letters and all. There is something up with that, considering the title of 6.01 is LA X. If you combine the letters that appear to the right of the space you get TAYINGSNGHERF. I do gets 'hints' from this but not much else.

I also wonder about the 1715 N. Pine address on the poster which is not the correct address for Bardot. It is where Judy Garland's star for the Walk of Fame is loacted ('Wizard of Oz' connection?) I wonder if anyone has ventured over there to take a look. Perhaps the picture that is not loading on the site might have something to do with that..

seriously, when I saw that dj am one and dj akoi (who are both world renouned djs) i was quite suprised that they were involved in this. But they throw parties like this all over the country. I just found it funny that they were doing this "dharma party" at a place where a majority of the crowd are LA hipsters and such.

Its fun to imagine, but seriously, this was a planned party that slapped on a very minor lost theme to it just to reveal some lost inspired art.

From some of my previous ARG experience, the definitely need the disclaimer/please be careful/obey the law notice.

You tell ARGers that there is a physical location clue, you can accidentally create a flash mob or trigger street races trying to reach the location.

Tons of people sat through crap test groups for new shows to get Apollo bars. I think they want to make sure that everyone knows that they will be able to get involved without having to tear across the country racing others to get the "physical clues".

I saw over on lost someone is trying to combat the problem I predicted, by creating specific ARG threads. You have to tackle any ARG/RG/G/R in multiple threads. One big mass thread is a mess when you have elements that come and go from the game as they serve their purpose and become irrelevant. They have some insanely talented puzzle masters over there and then some people that just hop in and start spouting stuff from 2 days ago, kinda a mess.

I think you are right about an existing event being polished up with a Lost Theme to serve the purpose.

My thinking is that Darlton will be doing live events around the country in the near future, but that is just my sneaking suspicion as I try and get into their heads about how they tackle the chance to build up to the final season, and juice a bit of rock star status for themselves (which they deserve).

So put me down as saying today, there will be more things to come and probably not restricted to LA.

Could someone with better photo software than Paint try putting them together? I know we won't get much YET, but I doubt the extra pixels are an accident (it's digital cameras.. that kind of stuff just doesn't happen). I expect more pictures to arrive with extra pixels to the side as this thing carries on! :)

I am working on it, the trouble is that picture 4 is 525 pixels tall and picture 5 is only 523 pixels tall.

There are a total of 3 extra pixel columns on picture 5, 1 on the left, two on the right.

picture 4 and 5 extra pixels do line up to a point, but the 2 pixels height makes it so that either the top or the bottom do not line up. To solve this I am stretching 5's by 2 pixels. (squishing 4 made things line up less, and stretching 5 brought things into better alignment)

The extra pixels on the left hand side of image 5 do not jibe with the others, so this image does not include those pixels.

I am still thinking this is a stego remnant because I can't make heads or tales of these extra pixels yet.

diving deeeeeeply into the images with a hex editor does not reveal any weak forms of stego. It appears that the photo's were processed using Photoshop's "save for the web" feature at 60% image quality. This form of processing strips out all the EXIF metadata.

I wish I could find the originals, but I did not find them on bpm's site (http://www.bpmmagazine.net/) or thecobrasnake's site (http://thecobrasnake.com).

google will predictively try to give you it's guess. chances are the google bot cant get a real bead on the actuallyitsketchup because it is a redirect domain to dcpb. so it is giving you the closest domain search it can guess.

What browser are you using, it does not do the "dragging" for me on IE or chrome.

I don't know if this has been picked up on yet, but the little Ben picture (original unflipped) has some more 'leftover' stuff on the left-hand side. Very thin strip that seems to go bright blue towards the bottom. Definitely looks like there's something hidden in these.. I could understand leftover stuff if these were scanned off traditional printed photos but they look like digital camera pictures to me. Or more likely a phone, judging from the quality.

What's with the ">" on the DCPB homepage? Just a leftover bit of HTML?

Guess it doesn't have anything to do with LOST as I can get images from other sites as well. But I have Mozilla Firefox for a browser. When I open the images on the desktop they are in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (and can be printed!)

Watched the new video- sounds like "The Lost Underground Fan Art Project" is the official name for the ARG or just the game if it is "reality" rather than "alternate reality". They also say the next six months will be about fan appreciation and not about puzzles, so not sure that sounds good. But why would Paul talk about a "hunt" if there were only pictures to buy?

Over on DarkUFO macdaddy is claiming it says:

I have been unable to reproduce the results, even streaming it to a Tivo HD on a 47" screen, and I do not see it.

I took a look at the red phrase but I don't think it's 'Frame'
The actual phrase is a few smidges longer than 'frame'

I also believe it could say '42' instead of '#2'

On a seperate note, I went through the html source for the frames page and tested the frame images on their own.
Though there are 16 frames, I gave it a shot and typed in 17.gif. It gave me the 'Hub' picture. The hub picture you see on the site is "images/hubwood.gif"

All in all, nothing new, haha.

I agree, and I thing the white is more pronounced towards the end of the top phrase.

Now if he turns out to be right, I will not know what to think, but he has shown me nothing that leads me to believe he is doning nothing more than guessing, trying to get attention, or trying to get ARG players hopes up.

What is the actual URL link you saved for DCPB. The frash you see on RonnieMidfewArts is the original page loading before the redirect command for the domain activates. This could be happening to you if your initial link for DCPB is from way back in the early Paul Scheer blog phase.

Oh wow, well spotted, I completely hadn't noticed that!

To me that whole area looks like a very broken up version of Europe and Asia. That would be Australia in the bottom right, India with the 42 hidden in it, Russia above, mainland Europe off to the left and the UK on the far left. Africa's barely there.

I wonder if this is a hint of some kind or if I'm just reading too much into it? Any significance in a shape that looks a lot like India containing the number 42?

Well- there is that "build our world" sticker that was on the shop window, and the laser cutting on the board makes it possible to be very precise to form something that does look like a map of the world. If the numbers are put in certain places, maybe that is where future poster events will be held.

Even if so though, it does look like at this point that the sys ops are right- this is mostly a viral marketing campaign. Still fun, and I will buy a poster if there is one I really like and can get to fast enough. I was hoping for something about that 16th frame that needed solving though.

Pull back and look at the whole board on dcpb. A convincing point to me that it may be a map is the very large area carved out at the bottom where Australia would be. That doesn't seem very random, and of course it's Australia.

I would agree if the website hadn't deliberately put that picture on. If it was a random fan picture, then yes, but it's shown on the DCPB page. Plus, it very much looks like Europe and Asia; the UK on the left (which looks EXACTLY right, the shape of the East coast is perfect), the number 42 within a shape that looks VERY much like India, and Australia in the bottom right. Lookit! :D

I already answered that above. It means "AOTS". I can't think of the techincal term for that kind of image but it's like a bar code. They are used in logistics/shipping all the time. I'm sure you've seen similar images on UPS/USPS packages and the like. Someone over at LostARGs translated this one.

My guess is that our next hint or url is going to be given on G4's Attack of the Show, aka AOTS.

The address for this poster was announced so fans could find it first, but it's probably easy to find it quickly on the fan sites for those who just want the posters as an investment.

Don't really know how these designers rate with collectors-guess you have to follow your inclinations- but maybe don't wait too long.

If you want to get a head start, look at the reading lists. I read "The Field" from the Jeremy Davies course, and am hoping to start a thread on that course to discuss it. Even if you don't get the blu ray DVDs with the course, the book has lots of applications to LOST.

I also got "Lost and Philosophy" from the Philosophy course, but am trying to understand the science aspect first.

Another van poster note- there has been speculation elsewhere about the brown bit of haze above the rear tire. Seems to me that given the familiar 5 leaf plant that covers the car, it could have the double meaning of "Smokey" and the van "smoking". Or maybe it's just innocent car exhaust!

OK- there are folks on Dark UFO and Lost ARGS that see a skull in the brown fuzz on the van poster. Have to say they may be right after looking at 2 posters on http://methanestudios.com/posters. One is of a skull in a Stone Temple Pilots poster- same vines and flowers. The other is for Black Lips- again skull with same colors. Makes Losties think of Roger- but maybe the artist just likes skulls.

Lol- yes cupcakes seem to be everywhere!

It actually looks like it's Gallery 1988 mostly on it's own at this point. The event shops both have LA stores that the Gallery could work through. The freebies they gave away were things they make- skate decks, and heard that the first Hurley order got a dcpb print. Their blog shows the 3 frames and lists the posters for sale. I thought Horace might show up in Boston, but it was really a nonevent except for the web site- something you could set up by just shipping the stuff to the store with little involvement by tptb.

If it's just them I don't know how international the events will be. Depends on what kind of connections the Gallery has I guess.

I want something to go with the DHARMA van, and it can't be too busy... So far the two that go the best together are this last one and the Locke one. They are alike stylistically so they would look nice hung together. Just some random thoughts really, I am an interior designer in RL so this is how I look at anything art or design related...

Just got Dharma Van (thanks Rev Milo for pics) yesterday- only one I've bought- some thoughts:

-For record-#129/300. Am I right that tptb have kept the first hundred of each set and are selling 101-300? First #s in the pull more valuable?

-The flaws-Dharma logo perspective a little skewed, #15 in middle is 2 colors so looks like 81 & 5 instead. So only direct LOST link looks "added on". Artist has used same van and skull motif in other posters- so did not really create for LOST.

-HOWEVER-poster really captures the feeling of LOST. The headlights and flowers give a sort of "duude" comic effect, but the empty car is floating in a black void with this barely seen skull in the mists of the vines. Funny, mysterious,creepy.

-Up close the fine detail is almost like a texture you want to touch due to how its printed. Very beautiful.

So I am happy with my picture- have a frame and know where its going. I was wondering though- are you always supposed to put a mat to keep the picture from touching the glass? Any framers out there?

Here is something weird...
On the DHARMA van print, when viewed under a black light it becomes apparent that within the numbers in the DHARMA symbol on the side there is an extra number 5! ??? Is this suggesting that if the variables in the valenzetti equation change instead of the number 42 would the new number be 52?

Are you looking at the line that reads 424815? That's 42-4-8-15. The problem is the 1 is one color and the 5 is another. It's not really an extra 5. It may mean something, but as I said, this artist did not have a lot of tricky connections in the poster to LOST, and I doubt that it was intentional.

Yes , since the 5 is a different color that shows in blacklight than the 1 it does stand out -never disagreed with that. But it still can be read as a correct horizontal line of "the numbers". Question is, are there really any clues to something in the little things we've noticed or not? Spacings in text, extra lines of pixels in pictures, map- like carvings on skateboards. Very vague clues to nothing in particular that I can see so far. If they were tied together somehow or had meaning on their own, I would stop thinking of them as just randomness or errors. Anyone see that pattern yet?

I still am hoping there is a mystery in frame 16 to be figured out.

we are discussing the 15 at the 4 o'clock position. There is a 1 with the 5 there, right after the 8, it is just that the 5 is a different color from it's "1".

Yes, I read that today. I had wondered when the frame clues first started, and it looked you only had to wait to see the answer to the web site reveal, if maybe there was another running game about the 16th frame. We just seem to get to dead ends though- like the name Ronie Midfew Arts. Seems like that has to be some kind of anagram, but the most likely -Widmore Fine Arts -was a fake. I don't see any clear kind of objective as in the finding the hare contest.

Will keep looking, but at this point I think maybe the 16th frame being "found" means it will foreshadow the s6 "Destiny Found" and not that we have to find out something hidden about it.

But you have to keep in mind that most of my ARG guesses thus far seem to be wrong!:o

A reveal at "The Lost Symbol" release seems like such a natural, but the book itself has it's own pre-release game online and it seems like staff might be too busy with distributing the book to also be doing something like getting LOST Fedix shipments and trying to figure out what to do with them.

Then again, I didn't think they would do the Crumbs thing the day after Labor Day and revealing the time only a few hours before as that didn't seem practical. Turns out it wasn't, as the lost Fedex box in NY showed- so who knows what they might do?

Interesting news from over at Lost Args. Staff at UA bookstore say the event for the Dan Brown book has fallen through but there still may be something going on on the 15th and to "come and find out". That was reported by "Anonymous" Also, TomRex posted letter he got as 1st order on "Crash" poster". He got a Dharma cupcake jumpsuit! Letter ends by mentioning "school" and undergrads wearing "new digs". Letters to other 1st orders have given a clue to next reveal- he thinks there may be Tshirts involved.

I don't use twitter, but I'll update from wherever they end up having the event. That other picture definitely is the school bookstore on main campus, so I'm assuming it will be there. Seems like it could be a surprise Dan Brown signing on the university campus, held at the bookstore on Tuesday. That would be awesome!

Interesting news from over at Lost Args. Staff at UA bookstore say the event for the Dan Brown book has fallen through but there still may be something going on on the 15th and to "come and find out". That was reported by "Anonymous" Also, TomRex posted letter he got as 1st order on "Crash" poster". He got a Dharma cupcake jumpsuit! Letter ends by mentioning "school" and undergrads wearing "new digs". Letters to other 1st orders have given a clue to next reveal- he thinks there may be Tshirts involved.

Interesting. Maybe some kind of UA = Lost University type thing? Sad to hear about the Dan Brown thing falling through.

so- "Wildcat Readers, see you on - J. Perkins/R. Morrison" tells us 9/14. At Lost Args they point out a library exhibit that opens Monday- but I think it must be the bookstore. Looks like it opens at 7:30- I hope they do it early before we have to go to work! Oops- just remembered 7:30 is going to be later for me- rats! Well, good luck to y'all everybody if I'm MIA.

Another thought- if you look around the other sites you will see that people have guessed the rest of the URLS and seems they have been posted on a blog. Since there is a delay after the URL's are revealed before you can buy, don't think knowing them gives anyone a head start- but they were probably fun to find. Anyway- hope anyone here would put them in spoilers or just refrain- I really am enjoying it more hearing them as we go along. My 2 c.

Dark Ufo says someone (from ABC?) is setting up display for tomorrow. URL must be there- maybe in the area we see in the dcpb picture with the globe.

Per LP this is Sawyer in Maternity Leave reading Lancelot by Walker Percy. Amazon reviews tell how in addition to the LP points is is a sort of confession by the murderer Lancelot to the priest Percival. (Eko-Yemi). I get the impression Lancelot isn't sorry either.
