Theres so many iconic scenes in that film. I had a copy on vhs but then a national newspaper gave the DVD away as a freebie, so that saved me buying it! I must have watched it 10 times...i havent seen it in the last 5 years though.
I like how those beings from the (space guild) who have become transformed by the use of spice use it to fold space and time. The one we see is like a bloated ugly slug and hes in a tank thats got a constant cloud of spice fed into it. A total addict LOL.
These are some great names from dune:
Shadout Mapes, Thufir Hawat, Duke Leto Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib -Atreides
-and then theres the psychic sisterhood called the BeneGeserit who test young Paul by making him put his hand in the "pain-box".

I have to say that i think LOST is just as engrossing and memorable, so very well written for a tv series its one of a kind. The only other tv shows ive ever really followed so closely are XFiles, Jericho and Taken. I will get into Fringe and V when lost is over.
  4. Great to see another Dune fan on here.

yeah, i thought maybe you were one of those people who doesnt really respond too well to random people commenting!!! My bad.
Dune has been one of my all time top films for years, i read quite a few of the books too, children of dune etc.

I mentioned a few characters in my other mssg, the "Baron Harkonnen" is an excellent bad guy, i think someone called him the "floating Fatman".
Most memorable moment - when Paul Atreides sister (Alia?) takes out the emperor and the baron in that golden Pyramid (was it a ship?) all with the telekinetic power of her mind and then Paul comes in with the Fremen riding the worms and finishes off the job.

Its amazing in the end they just release all that water and change the face of Arakis (i hope they had a big stash of Spice put away for all the addicts!!)

    Ste.
