Do you have ideas about how the Hall of Records or Osiris might fit into LOST mythology?

Oops! I told Safety Scissors I'd work on that, but then forgot all about it. Now SS is gone.

I better use the "To Do" function more often....

Yes, this is my obligatory annual reminder of the birthday of Edgar Cayce, the "Sleeping Prophet" of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Virginia Beach, Virginia, whose psychic predictions are unfortunately being looked at even more since the earthquake in Japan just a few days ago.

I also believe his readings were an influence on some of the mythology of LOST, although these influences didn't seem to play out much at all in "The End."

I think I won't write a long post, just direct readers to a couple of places (besides the beginning of the thread).

Lost is based on the 'prophecies' of Edgar Cayce

Am I a Caycean Zealot, you may ask? No, not so much as I was about 40 years ago, when I was a young buck looking for answers and taking them from whatever sources I could find. I think what I've found out is you have to let some things play out and observe.

On the other hand, Cayce said our thoughts and actions can influence how the future plays out. So how does one be proactive in some things and adopt a wait-and-see attitude in another?

    Patience, I guess.

    Patience, indeed^!

Welcome to the bump of this thread's third anniversary!

Looks like Old Edgar's birthday has been a topic for years on the internet. Here's a few links to see what others are saying. My posting of links does not endorse the source. I am not liable for unwanted cookies or proxy spam!

    Happy Birthday, Edgar Cayce!

One day early stateside so our friends in the Antipodes who are already on March 18 can celebrate now!

Cayce is still an uncredited influence on LOST and a contributor to various concepts. An American psychic born in 1877 and who died in 1945, he talked from his sleep-like trances of Atlantis, Lemuria, and traditions from various religions such as karma and reincarnation. I think I hit it on the head with the post in this thread about the Akashic Records and Hall of Records:

So, happy 136th birthday, Mr. Cayce! Salute!

Edgar would have been 142 years old this year.

"Not as one to be long-faced. For, the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof — in joy! Do not see the dark side too oft. Turn it over — there's another side to every question. Cultivate in self humor, wit. You enjoy it in others, others enjoy it in you. But too oft it becomes to you foolishness." (2995-1)

Edgar Cayce would have been 143 years old this year. I was busy self-isolating yesterday! Happy Belated Birthday, Edgar Cayce!
